Social Protection Officer – EU4PEOPLE Programme

About the role

The Social Protection Officer will lead the implementation of the EU4PEOPLE Social Protection Programme in Bosnia and Herzegovina, ensuring alignment with UN agencies and government partners. The role reports directly to the Assistant Representative and is central to achieving the programme’s objectives on social inclusion, gender equality and demographic resilience.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day programme implementation, coordinating with UNICEF, UNDP, ILO and other partners.
• Monitor progress of research and project activities, adjusting plans to keep the programme on track.
• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with government ministries, social welfare centres and donors.
• Support the UNFPA component by ensuring timely execution of work plans and effective stakeholder communication.
• Coordinate evidence generation on ageing, disability, gender inequalities and care needs to inform policy reforms.
• Strengthen social protection systems by integrating demographic and gender‑responsive approaches into local policies and service standards.
• Provide technical guidance to partners, ensuring data quality and adherence to international standards.
• Establish monitoring systems, evaluate partner performance and prepare accurate reports for management.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (minimum Master’s) in Social Sciences, Business Administration, Management or a related field.
• Professional experience in project management, preferably in public health, social policy or research, including programme design, coordination, monitoring and evaluation.
