Scientific Writer and Communication Manager

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a Scientific Writer and Communication Manager to support the CORE Group Partners Project (CGPP) in Kenya and Somalia. Reporting to the Deputy Director, you will contribute to research, data collection, analysis, and the preparation of scientific abstracts and peer‑reviewed manuscripts that strengthen the evidence base for global health security and disease surveillance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and coordinate research activities, including data collection processes and analysis.
• Write, edit, and submit scientific abstracts and manuscripts to peer‑reviewed journals, ensuring adherence to ethical standards.
• Support monitoring, evaluation, and reporting activities for the CGPP project.
• Manage knowledge‑sharing initiatives and create communication materials that convey project findings to diverse audiences.
• Collaborate with project partners, line ministries, and stakeholders across health, livestock, wildlife, and environmental sectors.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in scientific writing and publication in the health or humanitarian sector.
• Strong understanding of global health security, disease surveillance, and the One Health approach.
• Excellent written communication skills and ability to translate technical data into clear, compelling narratives.
• Ability to work under supervision of senior staff and coordinate with multi‑disciplinary teams.
